New Scientific Employment Tools

The Draft Scientific Employment Regulation is available on the FCT website. The draft will be open for public consultation for 30 days from its publication in the Official Gazette, which should happen shortly. Comments can be sent to info.ec@fct.pt.

In accordance with Decree-Law 57/2016, the normal link for research carried out by PhD students should be employment. Support for scientific employment is therefore a priority for the FCT. This regulation is therefore intended to create two instruments to support and stimulate scientific employment, with Calls first Calls take place in 2017:

(1) Support for the hiring of PhD researchers in all scientific areas and their placement in research units funded by the FCT and their host institutions, direct support for the hiring of PhD researchers through Calls promoted by the FCT, in order to facilitate the continuous and systematic integration of new PhDs into scientific institutions.

(2) Support for scientific employment plans and the development of scientific careers by higher education institutions, state laboratories, and public or private scientific institutions, support for the development of R&D activities, establishing and encouraging, among other things, the hiring of PhD researchers by scientific institutions through Calls addressed to institutions and promoted by the FCT.
