Portugal and Luxembourg foster bilateral scientific cooperation
On April 5, the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) and FCT signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote collaboration in science and research between the two nations.
In the framework of transnational cooperation, the agreement supports Portuguese participation in joint projects with institutions from Luxembourg and offers research groups the opportunity to strengthen ties that have long connected both countries with significant socioeconomic impact.
Through this Memorandum, research teams will be able to conduct their joint projects in the areas defined in consensus between both national funding agencies, such as Material Sciences, Biomedical and Health Sciences, Sustainable Resource Management, Innovation in Services, and Societal Challenges. The FNR and FCT will fund the Luxembourgish and Portuguese components of successful applications respectively, in accordance with their existing financial practices.
