FCT President conducts Masterclass at Instituto Superior de Agronomia

"The science and technology system in Portugal: how funding of researchers, institutions and projects impacted research and development" was the title of the Masterclass given by the President of FCT, Helena Pereira, on June 30, in the Sala de Atos of the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA) and online here.
This Masterclass took place as part of the Doctoral Seminar in Forestry Engineering and Seminars on scientific motivation. The president of the FCT addressed the issue of the impact of science funding on researchers, institutions and projects.
Helena Pereira, who ends her term as president of the FCT this month, also showed how science funding in Portugal, through the FCT, has reached levels of operational excellence compared to similar institutions, both in terms of the predictability of Calls, the quality of the evaluation processes and their duration until the results are presented, as well as the administrative simplification and dematerialization of processes.
Science in Portugal has grown significantly in the last 25 years, diversifying the areas of activity and the sectors that contribute to the creation of knowledge, and FCT funding has been a determining factor in the growth and improvement of all indicators of knowledge production and scientific qualification.
FCT is celebrating 25 years of funding science in Portugal this year and is marking the date with a series of events that will run throughout the year, in different cities and addressing topics of interest to the academic and scientific community. The full program of celebrations and the sessions that have already taken place can be found here.
