Next FCT Call for Projects in All Scientific Fields

FCT has today published the Call for Applications for the next Call for Projects in all Scientific Domains. The period for submitting applications will run from February 8 to March 10, 2022 and the Declaration of Commitment from applicants must be submitted by March 24, 2022.

The Call has a budget of 75 million euros and will support two types of projects:

- Scientific research and technological development projects (IC&DT), with a duration of 36 months and maximum funding per project of 250 thousand euros. The budget allocated to this type of project is 55 million euros;

- Exploratory research projects (PeX), with a duration of 18 months and maximum funding per project of 50 thousand euros. The budget allocated to this type of project is 20 million euros.

The two types of projects were introduced in last year's Call Projects, in response to suggestions from the scientific community. The annual Call for Projects in all Scientific Domains is part of FCT's set of major structuring Calls , whose schedule is established until 2023 and published on the website. The regularity and predictability of the major Calls was one of the commitments made by the FCT to the scientific community, and since 2019 it has followed the published calendar.

The application form and support guide for filling in the form will be made available on the Call page on the opening day of applications, February 8th. Applications will be submitted in English via the FCT Calls Portal.

It should be remembered that the results of the 2021Call for Projects in all Scientific Fields were released by FCT last July. In this Call , 551 projects were selected for funding, of which 256 were IC&DT Projects and 305 PeX Projects.
