Results of the 3rd Call Scientific Employment Incentives – Individual

Today (October 29), FCT announced the results of Call Scientific Employment Stimulus – Individual – 3rd Edition (CEEC Individual) to candidates. Thirty employment contracts will be awarded to PhD researchers in all scientific areas, representing a financial investment of €89,983,533. Across the three editions held, CEEC Individual has already awarded a total of 1,100 contracts to PhD researchers.

The 300 researchers selected are divided into four contractual categories: 157 Junior Researcher contracts, 114 Assistant Researcher contracts, 27 Principal Researcher contracts, and 2 Coordinating Researcher contracts. Women represent 58% of the selected candidates and foreign researchers represent 27% of the total, with the countries with the highest representation being Spain (33 researchers), Italy (16), France (7), and Germany (6).

Candidates were selected through an evaluation and ranking process carried out by 25 international panels, coordinated by José Carlos Marques dos Santos. The distribution of contracts by category and scientific panel is proportional to the respective number of candidates evaluated.

Following the announcement of the results, a preliminary hearing period will begin, during which unsuccessful candidates may contest their evaluation. Employment contracts must be signed between researchers and host institutions within 90 days of the signing of program contracts between the latter and the FCT.

The Individual CEEC is one of the instruments for financing the hiring of researchers defined by the Scientific Employment Regulation launched in 2017 by the FCT, following the publication of Decree-Law No. 57/2016. The next edition of Call until the end of this year, as provided for in Decree-Law No. 60/2018 and published in the Calls calendar for 2020.
