Results of the 3rd Call Stimulate Scientific Employment - Individual

FCT announced today (October 29) the results of the Call Stimulate Scientific Employment - Individual - 3rd Edition (CEEC Individual), in which 300 work contracts are awarded to PhD researchers in all scientific areas and which represents a financial investment of 89,983,533 euros. In all 3 editions, the CEEC Individual has already awarded a total of 1100 contracts to doctoral researchers.

The 300 researchers selected fall into four contractual categories: 157 Junior Researcher contracts, 114 Assistant Researcher contracts, 27 Principal Researcher contracts and 2 Coordinating Researcher contracts. Women represent 58% of the selected candidates and researchers of foreign nationality represent 27% of the total, with the countries with the highest representation being Spain (33 researchers), Italy (16), France (7) and Germany (6).

The candidates were selected through an evaluation and ranking process carried out by 25 international panels, coordinated by José Carlos Marques dos Santos. The distribution of contracts by category and by scientific panel is proportional to the respective number of candidates evaluated.

After the results have been announced, the prior hearing period begins, during which unsuccessful candidates can challenge their assessment. Employment contracts must be signed between the researchers and the host institutions within 90 days of the signing of the program contracts between the latter and the FCT.

The CEEC Individual is one of the funding instruments for hiring researchers defined by the Scientific Employment Regulation launched in 2017 by the FCT, following the publication of Decree-Law no. 57/2016. The next edition of the Call will run until the end of this year, as provided for in Decree-Law no. 60/2018 and disclosed in the FCT Calls calendar for 2020.
