Results of Call 4th Call Scientific Employment Incentives – Individual

Today (November 23), FCT published the results of Call Stimulating Scientific Employment – Individual – 4th Edition (CEEC Individual), in which a further 400 employment contracts are awarded to PhD researchers in all scientific areas, representing a financial investment of over €119 million. Across the four editions held, CEEC Individual has already awarded a total of 1,500 contracts to PhD researchers.

In this 4th edition of CEEC Individual, 3,730 applications were evaluated and the number of candidates who obtained a score of 8 or higher, on a scale of 1 to 10, was 1,742. The 400 researchers selected are divided into four contract categories: 208 Junior Researcher contracts, 156 Assistant Researcher contracts, 35 Principal Researcher contracts, and 1 Coordinating Researcher contract. Women represent 54.8% of the selected candidates and foreign researchers represent 31.5% of the total, representing an increase of 4.5% compared to Call . Candidates were selected through an evaluation and ranking process carried out by 25 international panels. The distribution of contracts by category and scientific panel is proportional to the respective number of candidates evaluated.

Following the announcement of the results, a preliminary hearing period will begin, during which unsuccessful candidates may contest their evaluation. Employment contracts must be signed between researchers and host institutions within 90 days of the signing of program contracts between the latter and the FCT.

The Individual CEEC is one of the instruments for financing the hiring of researchers defined by the Scientific Employment Regulation launched in 2017 by the FCT, following the publication of Decree-Law No. 57/2016. The next edition of Call until the end of this year, as provided for in Decree-Law No. 60/2018 and published in the Calls calendar for 2021.
