Roadmap for Research and Innovation in Marine Biotechnology published

The ERA-NET (European Research Area Network) project in Marine Biotechnology – ERA-MBT – published in September the Research and Innovation Roadmap in Marine Biotechnology.

The Roadmap is a document with the purpose of establishing guidelines for the future of European marine biotechnology research and innovation, enabling its growth within a network focused on self-sustainability. National and European policy organisations can use the document to develop measures that maximise the contribution of ocean bioresources to the bioeconomy and social well-being. For funding agencies, it will be an essential reference for identifying research areas linked to marine biotechnology.

FCT is a member of ERA-MBT, a network funded under the 7th Framework Programme that brings together 19 funding agencies from 14 European countries. This network aims to identify the needs and deficiencies of its partners in the area of marine biotechnology, in an attempt to promote cooperation practices for the implementation of a European Research Area in marine biotechnology and valorization of marine bio-resources.
