Roadmap for Research and Innovation in Marine Biotechnology was published

The ERA-NET (European Research Area Network) project on Marine Biotechnology – ERA-MBT – published the Roadmap for Research and Innovation in Marine Biotechnology in September.

The Roadmap is a document that aims to establish guidelines for the future of European marine biotechnology research and innovation, enabling its growth within a network geared towards self-sustainability. National and European political organizations can use the document to develop measures that maximize the contribution of ocean bio-resources to the bio-economy and social well-being. For funding agencies, it will be an essential reference for identifying areas of research related to marine biotechnology.

FCT is a member of ERA-MBT, a network funded under the 7th Framework Program that brings together 19 funding agencies from 14 European countries. This network aims to identify the needs and shortcomings of its partners in the field of marine biotechnology, in an attempt to promote cooperation practices for the implementation of a European Research Area in marine biotechnology and the valorization of marine bio-resources.
