Science and Technology Week 2016
(English version available soon)
Science and Technology Week runs from November 21 to 27. The Week is part of the National Day for Scientific Culture, which takes place on November 24, the birth date of Rómulo de Carvalho, a professor of physical chemistry and poet also known by the pseudonym António Gedeão, who was largely responsible for promoting scientific culture in Portugal.
During S&T Week 2016, scientific institutions, universities, schools and museums will provide the public with opportunities for scientific observation and personal contact with experts from different fields of knowledge.
The Ciência Viva Agency is one of the organizations organizing events in this context, and has put together a programme of nearly a hundred activities. Throughout the country there will be workshops, open doors and visits to laboratories, scientific tours, astronomical observation, film and documentary screenings, guided tours of museums, gatherings, science cafés and lectures.
The Ciência Viva program will close with the Montepio Ciência Viva Awards ceremony on November 27 at 5pm at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento. These awards recognize and encourage individual and collective efforts to promote scientific and technological culture in Portugal.
