Science and Technology Week 2016
(Versão em português disponível em breve)
Science and Technology Week takes place from November 21 to 27. The Week includes National Scientific Culture Day, celebrated on November 24, the birthday of Rómulo de Carvalho, a physics and chemistry teacher and poet also known by the pseudonym António Gedeão, who was largely responsible for promoting scientific culture in Portugal.
During Science and Technology Week 2016, scientific institutions, universities, schools, and museums will provide the public with opportunities for scientific observation and personal contact with specialists from different fields of knowledge.
Agência Ciência Viva is one of the organizations organizing events in this area, having put together a program of nearly a hundred activities. Across the country, there will be workshops, open houses and visits to laboratories, scientific tours, astronomical observation, film and documentary screenings, guided museum tours, gatherings, science cafés, and lectures.
The Ciência Viva program will conclude with the Ciência Viva Montepio Awards ceremony on November 27, at 5:00 p.m., at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento. These awards recognize and encourage individual and collective efforts to promote scientific and technological culture in Portugal.
