Science and Technology Week 2020

(Only Avalable in Portuguese)

Science and Technology Week is taking place from 23 to 29 November with numerous initiatives to disseminate science and technology organized by scientific institutions, universities, schools, museums and science centers throughout the country, in an initiative promoted and coordinated by Ciência Viva, under the slogan "Discover the science that is done in Portugal".

This year's celebrations for the National Day of Scientific Culture, marked on November 24, will take place in Porto. They begin with a session celebrating the 30th anniversary of the CBQF - Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry, of the Faculty of Biotechnology of the Catholic University of Porto, which will take place between 9:30 and 13:00. At 7pm, at the Monastery of São Bento da Vitória, there will be the concert "Vivaldi and Mozart: The Time of the Seasons", the last in the cycle of concerts with a scientific prelude "Time in Music and Science", an initiative under the Exarp initiative, which will be preceded by the "Scientific Prelude: Time in Biodiversity" (online streaming).

This year's highlight of Ciência Viva's S&T Week 2020 program is the COVID debates "No, we're not going to talk about SARS-COV-2, COVID-19, but there's an elephant in the room", every day from 12:00 to 13:00, which are broadcast online on the Youtube platform. On November 27, at 3pm, at the Pavilion of Knowledge, the Ciência Viva Awards will be presented, which recognize and encourage individual and collective efforts to promote scientific and technological culture in Portugal.
