Science and Technology Week 2020
(Only Available in Portuguese)
Science and Technology Week is taking place from November 23 to 29, with numerous science and technology outreach initiatives organized by scientific institutions, universities, schools, museums, and science centers across the country, in an initiative promoted and coordinated by Ciência Viva, under the slogan "Discover the science being done in Portugal."
The celebrations for National Scientific Culture Day, marked on November 24, will take place this year in Porto. They will begin with a session commemorating the 30th anniversary of the CBQF – Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry, of the Faculty of Biotechnology of the Catholic University of Porto, which will take place between 9:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m., at the Monastery of São Bento da Vitória, the concert "Vivaldi and Mozart: The Seasons" will take place, the last in the series of concerts with scientific preludes "Time in Music and Science," an initiative within the scope of the Exarp initiative, which will be preceded by the "Scientific Prelude: Time in Biodiversity" (online streaming).
This year's highlight of Ciência Viva's 2020 Science and Technology Week program is the COVID debates "No, we're not going to talk about SARS-COV-2, COVID-19, but there's an elephant in the room," every day from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., which are broadcast online on YouTube. On November 27, at 3:00 p.m., at the Pavilion of Knowledge, the Ciência Viva Awards will be presented, recognizing and encouraging individual and collective efforts in promoting scientific and technological culture in Portugal.
