On March 23 and 24, FCT and the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG) held a workshop on "COVID-19 and Gender Equality: Research on the Impacts of the Pandemic and Contributions to Public Policy." This online meeting, dedicated to providing special support for the Gender Research 4 Covid-19 research projects launched by FCT, which can now be viewed online, had a maximum of 368 participants—239 on the first day and 129 on the second.

Fifteen of the projects approved for funding participated in this workshop, presenting their ongoing research under this FCT funding line on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the lives of women and men, which is also included in a brochure published by the FCT for this occasion and available here. The session program was also attended by the Minister of State and the Presidency, Mariana Vieira da Silva, the Minister of Science, Technology, and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, the Secretary of State for Science, Technology, and Higher Education, João Sobrinho Teixeira, the President of the FCT, Helena Pereira, and the President of the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality, Sandra Ribeiro.

The special Gender Research 4 Covid-19 support, for research projects on the impact of the health emergency caused by COVID-19 on gender inequalities and violence against women and domestic violence, was promoted by FCT, in conjunction with the Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality and the support of the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG). Its purpose was to fund projects and initiatives that enable the production and dissemination of knowledge about the gender impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the dissemination of contingency plans and measures adopted to contain and resolve it.
