The 2017 Call for PhD Scholarships is now open

The Call Applications for Studentships 2017 is open from March 1 to March 31. A total of 900 Studentships will be awarded Studentships all areas under this Call.

The Call will be open Call March so that applicants can find out the results before the start of the academic year, enabling them to better plan their research. The FCT intends for the Call applications for Studentships to always open in the first quarter of the year.

Studentships are grants awarded to researchers in training to carry out scientific and technological activities on a full-time basis, with a view to obtaining a doctoral degree. Research carried out by doctoral researchers, in accordance with Decree-Law 57/2016, should be based on employment as the normal form of contract, and therefore no Studentships will be awarded in this Call. The hiring of PhDs is a priority for the FCT and will be reflected in Call Projectsin all scientific fields, the notice for which was published on February 24, in the implementation of DL 57/2016, under which it is expected that a further thousand Calls the hiring of PhDs will be opened, to be funded by the FCT, and in other scientific employment opportunities that the FCT will promote in 2017.
