Transitional rule for Scientific Employment
(available only in Portuguese)
Within the scope of the Stimulus Program for Scientific Employment and following the conclusion of the regulatory process for the amendments to Decree-Law no. 57/2016 introduced by Law no. 57/2017, institutions have the necessary elements to open Calls the hiring of doctoral researchers under the new legal regime, in particular those relating to the transitional rule. In this context, the FCT will finance the hiring costs arising from tender procedures for positions held by doctoral fellows with Studentships in force on September 1, 2016, funded directly or indirectly by the FCT for more than three consecutive or interpolated years (until December 31, 2017 or August 31, 2018).
This funding will take the form of program contracts with the host institutions to cover the costs of these employment contracts. The FCT is therefore publishing guidelines for concluding program contracts.
Each grantee covered by the transitional rule will give rise to a position to be opened by the host institution. FCT will fund the contract of the selected researcher, as long as the fellow who originated the Call has applied. FCT will fund a single contract per eligible grant holder.
Calls must be opened by the grantees' host institutions and do not require authorization or validation from the FCT.
