World Science Day for Peace and Development 2016

World Science Day for Peace and Development is celebrated annually on 10 November, promoted by UNESCO. The day aims to highlight the role of science in building a better world. “Celebrating Science Centers and Museums” is the theme with which the day is celebrated this year.

The Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, issued a message on the occasion of this day, in which she highlights the paramount importance of Science in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, the Sendai Framework for Action and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. In the message, he highlights the role of science centers and museums, which are in the spotlight on this day, as they are like living laboratories of creativity and encourage research and the search for solutions to the problems of our societies.
