Science and Technology Archive (ACT)

ACT's mission is to process, preserve, and disseminate the archival heritage held by FCT, as well as other material of scientific and historical interest, thereby contributing to the preservation of the history and memory of science and technology in Portugal. It reserves and manages documentation of undeniable interest and historical quality, reflecting Portuguese cultural and scientific activity, mainly from the second half of the 20th century, largely in the form of thousands of files supporting Studentships, institutions, research projects, among others. A documentary collection representative of the history of institutions, scientific policies, and the organization of science, with interest for all areas of knowledge. Due to the activity that the FCT develops and its responsibility for ensuring the preservation of scientific documentary heritage, the archive has also been integrating some personal collections of renowned personalities linked to scientific activity.

Science and Technology Library

The FCT Library collects and provides access to an important set of information resources, including national and international monographs and journals specializing in science and technology management and policy, institutional history, and subjects such as the history of science and technology. In addition to the collection built up by FCT itself, it includes editions of the now defunct INIC and JNICT, as well as collections from personal estates.

INDEXAR – Directory of Digital Repositories

INDEXAR was created in response to the need for a platform capable of identifying and providing an integrated online reference for accessing digital scientific repositories and journals in the field of science and culture. A directory that allows for comprehensive, credible information search and identification, enhancing the visibility and dissemination of the information recorded.

SciELO – Online digital library

FCT is the SciELO National Unit, responsible for coordinating and operating SciELO Portugal, a service that provides information from different scientific fields, with the aim of promoting Portuguese scientific journals and disseminating high-quality national scientific output worldwide.

Latindex – Network for the dissemination of scientific publications

Since 1999, FCT has been the Portuguese institution coordinating national participation in Latindex, a network for the dissemination of scientific publications. The aim is to disseminate, make accessible, and improve the quality of scientific research, technical-professional, and scientific and cultural journals published in Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Portugal.
