The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), through its Science and Technology Archive (ACT), will continue the series of sessions entitled "Archives of Knowledge: Science, History, and Memory" in 2026. In this second edition, the objective remains to promote short sessions in an environment of sharing and dissemination of the documentary collection of the FCT's Science and Technology Archive, which has unique characteristics for the history of scientific activity in Portugal.

The first session of this new cycle will take place on March 11, at 2:30 p.m., and will feature Professor Manuel Galvão de Melo e Mota (Lusófona University) as the keynote speaker, who will give a presentation on the theme "Miguel Mota, agronomist, researcher, and professor: a man ahead of his time." The event will be moderated by Cláudia Henriques, from the Center for Communication and Society Studies at the University of Minho. The event will take place at the FCT facilities (Av. Dom Carlos I, 126, Lisbon) and admission is free, subject to prior registration, until March 10. The detailed program of the event can be found on the act website.

These series of sessions are intended to contribute to stimulating knowledge and study of the documentation held by the FCT, sharing the results of research work and disseminating a collection that is of immense importance to the history of science, scientific policies, institutions, and research in Portugal. Sharing, reflecting, and debating, highlighting the importance of primary sources for science, history, and memory, are thus the main themes of this cycle. The remaining three sessions of 2026 are scheduled to take place on May 13, September 16, and November 4, with all information about the respective programs being made available in a timely manner on this page.
