Second edition of Science4Policy to support 18 more studies for public policy
Thefinal results of the second edition of Call Science Studies for Public Policy (Science4Policy – S4P-24), launched by FCT and PlanAPP — Center for Competence in Planning, Policy, and Forecasting in Public Administration in February 2024, were published today, August 5.
Eighteen studies were selected, led by researchers from various scientific fields, covering different thematic areas that correspond to specific public policy needs identified by RePLAN — Network of Planning and Forecasting Services for Public Administration, within the framework of the Thematic Agendas of the Portugal 2030 Strategy.
This Call support the production of scientific knowledge and evidence that contributes to decision-making and the definition and implementation of public policies by the Government and Public Administration. In this way, the scientific community is encouraged to produce science for public policy and its use by policy makers.
The projects involve different areas of government and collaborations with public administration entities and civil society partners in the context of the topics addressed were valued. Each project will culminate in the delivery of apolicy briefwith evidence-based recommendations for the problems identified.
A total of 36 studies were selected this year in the two editions of Science4Policy to produce evidence for public policy. It is estimated that the first policy briefs will begin to be delivered at the end of 2025.
