20th Safer Internet Day

safe internet day 2023

This year, in its 20th edition, Safer Internet Day will mark the day around the theme "Safer Internet: Metaverse vs. Reality" with a session in the Aula Magna of the University of the Azores, in Ponta Delgada, on 7 February, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM local time (GMT -1), which will also be broadcast via streaming.

With technological advances, the subject of the "Metaverse" is being increasingly addressed, raising some doubts and questions, so with this session we intend not only to exchange experiences and knowledge, but also to address some answers and evidence about this "new world", the "Metaverse".

In addition to the session, during the afternoon, between 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM, the educational community can watch the play "ID Your Mark on the Net", performed by the actors Alexandre Silva, Pedro Górgia, and Tiago Aldeia. The play returns to the stage between 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM, this time open to the general public, and it is also possible to watch the play online. All sessions are free of charge.

During the day the "Safe Internet Workshops" are also taking place, and all these activities have a common goal: to make students aware of a healthier, safer, and more conscious use of the Internet.

Under the motto "Together for a Better Internet", Safer Internet Day is an annual awareness campaign that brings together stakeholders from the public and private sectors to promote the safe and responsible use of the Internet, particularly among children and young people.

This initiative is carried out and promoted by the Safe Internet Center Consortium, of which the FCT is a member, and the consortium is coordinated by the National Center for Cybersecurity.
