33rd Portuguese-Spanish Summit dedicated to Innovation and Energy

The 33rd Luso-Spanish Summit is being held today in Viana do Castelo, and is preceded by a visit to the Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory in Braga, attended by Prime Minister António Costa, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Minister of Science, Technology, and Higher Education Elvira Fortunato, and Spanish Minister of Science and Innovation Diana Morant.

The delegation will be welcomed and guided on their visit to INL by the Chair of the FCT Governing Board, Madalena Alves, in her capacity as Chair of the INL Board, and by the Deputy Director of INL, Paulo Freitas. The visit will include a meeting with 24 researchers and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the creation of an Iberian food laboratory (Iberian FoodTec Lab).

This Portuguese-Spanish Summit is dedicated to the theme of innovation and aims to strengthen alignment within the European framework in the area of energy. This Summit will result in agreements and memoranda of understanding for the creation of three research and development projects between Portugal and Spain, in the context of the application of the respective European funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plans (PRR), based on three strategic areas: – Space, Energy, and Microelectronics. The three research projects relate to a "Satellite Constellation for Earth Observation," the Cáceres Energy Research and Storage Center (CIIAE) in the area of scientific research, as well as collaboration in the area of microelectronics (microchips).
