Call for Proposals 2026 for the European “Chips Joint Undertaking” Partnership

The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) has announced the opening of the 2026 call for proposals from the European Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU), which forms part of the 2026 Work Program under the Calls and Innovation (R&I) Calls in the ECS ( Electronic Components and Systems) component.

This call for proposals is intended for Portuguese beneficiaries acting as coordinators or partners in international consortia under the Chips JU, encompassing both non-business entities in the Research and Innovation System (ENESII) and companies, which may receive financial support from the FCT up to a total amount of 3.5 million euros. Applications will take place in two phases, with deadlines set for May 7, 2026, for the first phase and September 17, 2026, for the second phase.

National co-funding for these activities is part of the National Semiconductor Strategy, which will be implemented by the FCT in collaboration with the National Innovation Agency (ANI), with the aim of strengthening Portugal’s scientific, technological, and industrial capabilities in the field of semiconductors and advanced electronic systems.
