International Atomic Energy Agency promotes technical meeting on Irradiated Fuel and Radioactive Waste

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is hosting a technical meeting on the Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste Information System and the Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste Inventory Tool, to be held from March 30 to April 2 at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna, Austria. .

This event, which also includes the possibility of remote participation, aims to improve the use of the System for Information on Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste (SRIS) and the Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste Inventory Tool (SWIFT), recently updated among Member States. The meeting also aims to promote the exchange of experiences among experienced users, as well as to demonstrate the features, usefulness, and benefits of these systems for data collection and reporting.

Participation in the technical meeting is exclusively by appointment of Member States, and expressions of interest must be submitted on the InTouch+ platform by February 6.

Portugal is a founding member of the IAEA, established in 1957. National cooperation with this Agency is largely carried out through the Technical Cooperation Program (TCP), under the Country Program Frameworks signed between the IAEA and the Government of Portugal. The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), as part of its participation in the TCP, promotes training opportunities and other events within the Portuguese scientific community.
