The IAEA has opened applications for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Studentships

Applications are now open for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Studentships , sponsored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Proposals may be submitted through October 31.

This program aims to encourage young women to pursue studies and careers in fields related to the nuclear sector. The Studentships are for the 2027–2028 and 2028–2029 academic years, and selected candidates will receive support to enroll in master’s degree programs in nuclear-related fields.

The initiative supports young women pursuing studies in fields relevant to the IAEA’s work, including nuclear engineering, nuclear physics and chemistry, nuclear medicine, isotope techniques, radiation biology, nuclear safety, nuclear security, nonproliferation, and nuclear law. In this way, it contributes to the safe, secure, and peaceful use of nuclear science and technology.

Over the past six years, the program has supported 860 students from 135 countries, enabling them to pursue master’s degree programs in 79 countries. More than 230 graduates have also gained practical experience through internships facilitated by the IAEA.

Portugal has been a member state of the IAEA since 1957, and the FCT promotes the participation of the national scientific and technological community in this program.
