Studentships for Doctoral Studies and Research with the support of FCT

Applications are now open for Studentships for Doctoral Studies and Research with the support of FCT, which will run until January 31, 2025.

A Studentship DoctoralStudentship is supported by FCT and is intended for students admitted to PhD programs at US universities in the 2025/2026 academic year. It is funded up to a maximum of $36,000 for the first year of study. The Fulbright Commission and theInstitute of International Education also provide support to the scholarship recipient during their stay in the US.

Regarding the Studentship for Research with the support of FCT, support is available for research projects at universities or research centers in the United States of America for the 2025/2026 academic year. This Studentship for doctoral fellows directly funded by FCT who have planned or will plan, as part of their training plan, to conduct a period of research at a US university or research center.

Students selected for these Studentships enjoy, among other benefits, the opportunity to participate in seminars and other cultural and scientific activities organized by the Fulbright Program during their stay in the US and to join the global network of Fulbright scholars.
