Fulbright Studentships for research and doctorates with FCT support

Fulbright Portugal is open until January 31, 2023, for applications for FulbrightStudentships for Research and FulbrightStudentships for Doctorates, Calls supported by FCT.
The Fulbright Studentships for Research program is aimed at PhD Studentships directly funded by the FCT who have planned, as part of their training plan, to carry out a period of research at a US university or research center, and covers all areas of study. Good English language skills, proof of agreement with the project by the host institution in the United States and proof of agreement with the doctoral supervisor are essential for the application. This Studentship has a defined duration of 4 to 9 months. The selected candidates receive support from FCT and Fulbright, which provides them with supplementary health and accident insurance for the duration of the Studentship, as well as issuing the necessary documents for the J-1 visa, among other benefits.
The Fulbright PhD Studentships Program is aimed at students who will be attending the first year of a full-time PhD program at an accredited university in the United States of America, starting in the academic year 2023/2024. Preference will be given to students whose academic career has been developed at a Portuguese higher education institution. Twoletters of recommendation(Letters of Reference) will be required for the application; a copy of the grade certificates for each degree obtained and their translation into English; a diploma supplement, percentile or ranking for the degree (when possible) and their translation into English; a copy of the Studentship Regulations signed and initialed by the applicant; and the Diversity Essay written by the applicant. Applicants must also submit the following documents at the time of application or by April 15, 2023: proof of admission to the university they intend to attend; proof of financial aid awarded by the university they intend to attend; proof of financial capacity (personal funds and/or other funds) to support the total cost of the first year of studies, in an amount that exceeds the amount of the Fulbright Studentship and the amount of financial aid awarded by the university they intend to attend.
