Studentships for Research and Doctoral Studies for 2026/2027 with the support of FCT

Fulbright Portugal, with the support of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), has opened applications forStudentships for Research and Studentships for Doctoral Studies for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The Studentship for Research, supported by FCT in all areas of study, is intended for doctoral fellows directly funded by FCT who have planned or will plan, as part of their training plan, to conduct a period of research at a university or research center in the United States of America (USA). This Studentship for four to nine consecutive months and cannot begin before September 15, 2026.

The Studentship DoctoralStudentship is intended for students who will be attending, in person and full-time, the first year of a doctoral program at an accredited university in the US. This Studentship funding of up to US$40,000 for the first year of study.

Studentships for students of Portuguese nationality, and the application period ends on January 15, 2026. For more information, please refer tothe Studentships RegulationsandApplication Instructions.
