Vote for Science" campaign: European Parliament elections 2024

From June 6 to 9, in the run-up to the European Parliament elections, Science Europe is launching the "Vote for Science" campaign. Using the hashtag #Vote4Science, it advocates political support for scientific research on the EU's legislative agenda for the next five years.

At the heart of the "Vote for Science" campaign are five commitments to safeguard the future of European research and innovation: (I) Investing in society, culture and competitiveness; (II) Freedom of scientific research; (III) Collaboration, openness and fairness; (IV) Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and (V) Science communication.

This campaign defends science for the benefit of society and scientific research as the cornerstone of its progress and the engine that drives innovation, prosperity and social, economic and environmental well-being. The aim is to increasingly value the role of science in promoting economic growth and improving the quality of life for all Europeans, ensuring that Europe remains at the forefront of innovation and progress worldwide.

Science Europe was created in October 2011 with the aim of promoting the collective interest of European scientific and technological research funding organizations (RFO-Research Funding Organizations) and research performing organizations (RPO-Research Performing Organizations). It aims to contribute to strengthening the European Research Area (ERA) through its cooperation with key partners. FCT became a member of Science Europe in May 2012.
