CoARA National Chapters Exchange Forum

TheCoARA National Chapters Exchange Forumwill take place on February 22 and 23 at Alfândega do Porto, and is organized by FCT, INESC TEC, CoARA, and Science Europe.

CoARA – Coalition for Advancing Research Assessmentis an international initiative that emerged in December 2022 and already has more than 600 entities from 46 countries as members, including funding agencies, universities, research institutions, scientific societies, and national/regional authorities. Its goal is to implement a systemic reform of the evaluation of research, researchers, and research organizations. The proposed changes cover different areas, from recruitment and career progression to the funding and evaluation of researchers, projects, and institutions, and the publication of scientific articles. The CoARA National Chapters Exchange Forum is the first event aimed at exploring opportunities for collaboration between the members of this alliance.

Considering the contexts of different countries, CoARA envisages the creation ofNational Chapters, which support the implementation of the agreement's commitments at national and regional level and promote coordination and collaboration between entities in their respective countries. There are currently 11 national chapters, with the Portuguese chapter currently being set up in a process coordinated by FCT. This event will thus provide a stage for the different national chapters that already exist and are in preparation, so that they can identify and deepen areas of collaboration, share knowledge and experiences, addressing topics such as local contexts and motivations for starting a chapter, or reflections on challenges and good practices.
