Call for cooperation between Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean

The EU-LAC (European Union – Latin America and Caribbean) Interest Group has launched its fifth Call proposals for funding transnational Research and Innovation projects. This Call 13 European and Latin American and Caribbean funding agencies, including the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), which, as a funding agency, will support projects falling under the following topics: Bioeconomy – bioeconomy and nature-based solutions; Energy – cooperation for energy transition; Open Science – cooperation in open science.

The EU-LAC Interest Group was founded in March 2017 with the aim of maintaining the bi-regional network created by the ERANet-LAC project, funded by the European Commission (2013-2017). The activities of this group aim to support the implementation of the EU-LAC Common Research Area and add value to its basic pillars: researcher mobility, greater thematic cooperation to address global challenges, and international dissemination of research and innovation infrastructures. The group consists of 29 funding agencies from the regions concerned, including the FCT, with the aim of cooperating in the field of bi-regional science, technology, and innovation.

Proposals to apply for this Call be submitted until 4:00 p.m. (Mainland Portugal time) on May 22, 2025. More information on applications from national entities can be found on the page dedicated to Call on the FCT website.
