Call experts for the European Commission's AI Scientific Panel

The European Commission has opened applications for the recruitment of 60 experts in artificial intelligence and its impacts, to form an independent scientific panel to support the European Artificial Intelligence Office (AI Office) and national authorities in the implementation and enforcement of the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act).

Interested parties may submit their applications until September 14, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. (CET).

Candidates should have experience in general-purpose AI (GPAI) models and systems, AI impacts, or related areas such as model evaluation, risk assessment and mitigation, cybersecurity, emerging systemic risks, and computational measurements and thresholds. It should be noted that they must also have a PhD or equivalent experience and remain independent of any AI provider. The selection will entail a renewable 24-month term.

The selection process will ensure a balance and representation between men and women in EU Member States and EEA/EFTA countries. Although EU citizenship is not a requirement, 80% of experts must be from the EU or EFTA Member States.
