Call for experts for the European Commission's AI Scientific Panel

The European Commission has opened applications to recruit 60 experts in artificial intelligence and its impacts to form an independent scientific panel to support the European AI Office and national authorities in the application and implementation of the AI act.
Interested parties can submit their application until September 14, 2025, by 18:00 (CET).
Candidates should have experience in general-purpose AI (GPAI) models and systems, AI impacts or related areas such as model evaluation, risk assessment and mitigation, cybersecurity, emerging systemic risks and computational measurements and thresholds. They must also have a PhD or equivalent experience and remain independent of any AI provider. The selection will entail a renewable mandate of 24 months.
The selection process will ensure balance and representation between men and women in EU Member States and EEA/EFTA countries. Although EU citizenship is not a requirement, 80% of the experts must be from the EU or EFTA Member States.
The promoters of this Call advise candidates to prepare their application in good time, so that they can submit it preferably before the last days of the deadline.
