The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) has announced the results of the first edition of the HEALTH + SCIENCE: Exploratory Projects 2025 competition, funded by the Central Administration of the Health System (ACSS) under a memorandum of understanding signed between the two entities.

With a total budget of 1.6 million euros, the call for proposals will fund 32 exploratory projects; 14.2% of the eligible applications were approved.

Each project may last up to 18 months, extendable by six months, and receive up to 50,000 euros in funding.

Of the 32 approved projects, 17 fall under the category of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, 13 under Access to Health Care, and two under Active Aging. All consortia include at least one non-business entity from the R&I system and one non-academic entity under the jurisdiction of the health sector.

This competition aims to create the conditions for developing innovative ideas and exploring relevant scientific issues, thereby promoting technological and organizational innovation in health care. The goal is to contribute to more efficient, people-centered health care systems that are geared toward more sustainable and humane care delivery.

The list of funded projects and more information about the results can be found on the call for proposals page.
