2026 Call of the European Partnership EP PerMed – CARMEN2026
On November 25, the European Partnership for Personalized Medicine (EP PerMed) launched its third Joint Call , entitled CARMEN2026, to fund transnational Research and Innovation (R&I) projects.
This Call, with the theme "Personalized Medicine for Cardiovascular, Metabolic, and Kidney Diseases," involves funding agencies from 27 European and non-European countries, including the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), and aims toMEtabolic, and kidNey diseases," involves funding agencies from 27 European and non-European countries, including the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), and aims to support projects in innovative strategies for Personalized Medicine for patients with cardiovascular, metabolic, or renal diseases, covering at least one of the following aspects:
- Innovative personalized therapeutic approaches;
- Monitoring of treatment response in patients in order to tailor treatment pathways;
- Early disease risk prediction and prevention of disease worsening or comorbidities.
Preliminary proposals (phase 1) may be submitted until 1:00 p.m. (Mainland Portugal time) on February 10, 2026.

Co-funded under Horizon Europe, EP PerMed is a platform for the joint programming of national and European R&I support activities that implement the Strategic R&I Agenda for Personalized Medicine (2023) through dedicated funding for research, development, and innovation.
In addition to FCT, Portugal is represented in this partnership by the Agency for Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation (AICIB), the Regional Coordination and Development Commission of the Center (CCRDC), and the Regional Directorate for Science, Innovation, and Development (DRCID) of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
