Calls Exploratory Projects from the CMU Portugal and UT Austin Portugal 2025 Programs
Applications are now open for the 2025 Exploratory Calls the CMU Portugal and UT Austin Portugal Programs, under the FCT's International Partnerships with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and the University of Texas at Austin (UTA). The deadline for submitting applications is February 10, 2026.
These Calls support disruptive, high-risk scientific projects with a high potential impact on the enhancement of scientific knowledge. The overall budget per partnership is €400,000 and the projects to be funded are expected to last 12 months.
In the case of the CMU Portugal Program, this Call to support projects in the field of Information and Communication Technologies. The maximum funding per project is €50,000 for projects developed by a single Portuguese institution (individual projects) and €70,000 for projects developed by more than one Portuguese institution (joint projects).
For the UT Austin Portugal Program, proposals will be supported in four areas of knowledge: Nanotechnologies; Clean Energy; Space-Earth Technologies; and Advanced Computing. Funding is €50,000 per project, regardless of whether the application is individual or co-promoted.
