The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the future legislative act on advanced materials, which will be open until January 13, 2026.

Advanced materials provide innovative solutions for a more efficient, sustainable, and competitive industry, playing a key role in achieving the European Union's (EU) goals of strengthening competitiveness and achieving climate neutrality by 2050, as set out in the Clean Industry Pact.

This legislative act will be based on the February 2024 Communication on advanced materials for industrial leadership. It will also contribute to simplification measures and better implementation of EU policies and legislation, making it easier and faster for you to do business and invest.

This is expected to revolutionize the advanced materials ecosystem, unlocking groundbreaking innovations and accelerating the deployment of disruptive technologies that will boost the competitiveness of EU industry.

The objectives of this act are:

  • Enhancing EU R&I capacities and the uptake of advanced materials;
  • Increase production capacity and availability in the EU;
  • Improving circularity and sustainability;
  • Explore the potential for simplification, reduction of burdens, and acceleration of procedures.
