The European Commission has launched a Public Consultation on the future Action Plan for Women in Research, Innovation, and Start-ups in the European Union, which aims to gather different contributions and promote the sharing of ideas on the topic. The public consultation is available until February 23 and can be accessed via the following link: Action plan for women in research, innovation, and start-ups.

The European Commission expressly invites researchers and academic organizations with expertise in the field of gender equality to submit relevant research findings, analyses, and scientific data, whether already published or in the process of being published.

The European Union (EU) Action Plan for Women in Research, Innovation, and Business was announced in November 2024, with the aim of continuing the significant progress already made in promoting gender equality in Research and Innovation (R&I). Its formulation will be based on concrete data and feedback on its objectives and strategic options.

In its initial phase, the aim of the new Plan is to make the EU the most attractive place in the world for women in the above-mentioned sectors by 2030, responding to the need to exploit the full potential of the EU's diverse talent pool as an essential driver of sustainable European competitiveness. Its scope will reinforce the intersectional approach to gender equality in Research and Innovation (R&I), with the aim of combating and mitigating different forms of discrimination based on the combination of gender with other personal characteristics or identities. Subsidiarity will be respected, with this document focusing on challenges that transcend national borders and cannot be effectively addressed by Member States or bilateral partnerships in the absence of EU action.
