The Science and Innovation 2026 Conference, to be held on July 15 and 16 in Lisbon, is issuing a call for proposals on topics to be discussed at the event. The initiative, whose theme is “Preparing for the Future,” aims to support the ongoing process of defining strategic priorities for research and innovation in Portugal.

Members of the scientific community, businesses, organizations from various sectors, and public administration are invited to form groups and identify specific issues for consideration by the Agency for Research and Innovation (AI²), as well as the associated scientific, societal, and/or economic factors and impacts. Each group must include at least four members from a minimum of three entities of different types. The participation of interdisciplinary groups with established collaboration is encouraged.

The selected topic proposals will serve as the basis for organizing discussion sessions, held in various rooms during the 2026 Science and Innovation Meeting, promoting broad and“bottom-up”participation. Each session will have a moderator and a rapporteur, and a summary of the main contributions will subsequently be presented publicly; these contributions will be taken into account in the process of defining strategic guidelines for the next five years.

Proposals must be submitted using the designated form: Science and Innovation Meeting 2026 – Form, available until June 16, 2026. The evaluation will be conducted by the event’s Organizing Committee. Notification of proposal acceptance is scheduled for July 1, 2026.
