The European Commission adopted on 10 July the 2024 Work Programme of the European Research Council (ERC). The plan includes new elements in the evaluation of proposals and applicants' CVs (narrative CVs), and in the evaluation process itself. It also launches the Advanced Grant funding pilot initiative in the simplified cost format (Lump Sum) and introduces changes to the structure of the evaluation panels. The ERC has published a news item on this subject, available here.

The Starting Grant Call, with a submission deadline of 24 October, has been open since 12 July. The documents to support the application, including guidelines for applicants and evaluators, are available here. On the Funding and Tenders portal, candidates can start preparing their application and download all documents, from the Call page  which will give access to the submission platform and application templates.

The Call for the Synergy Grant applications, with a deadline of 8 November, opened today, 13 July, with support documentation available on the ERC and Funding and Tenders Portal websites.

FCT coordinates the promotion and support of the participation of the national scientific community in the ERC Calls, having also launched strategic programs to raise participation levels and success rates, namely ERC-Portugal and ERC-PT Pre-Assessment. So far, researchers working in SNCT institutions have raised around €70 M during the first 2 years of Calls of Horizon Europe.
