Applications are now open for the 6th edition of Call Advanced Computing Call
The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) has opened applications for the 6th edition of Call Advanced Computing Projects for all types of access. The deadline for submitting projects is November 10, at 5 p.m. Lisbon time. This is the first batch of applications, with four more batches planned for later stages.
This Call to promote access by the scientific and innovation community in Portugal to advanced high-performance computing resources, helping to accelerate projects in multiple scientific and technological areas. The resources made available include national and European supercomputers, such as Deucalion and MareNostrum 5, infrastructures that are part of the EuroHPC network and are funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
Types of access:
- A0 – Trial Access (up to 6 months): intended for teams with no prior experience or who wish to make initial contact with the systems.
- A1 – Development Access (3 to 12 months): for performance testing, scalability, and code optimization.
- A2 – Regular Access (12 months): intended for teams with consolidated experience in the use of advanced computing resources.
- A3 – Greater Access Dimension (12 months): reserved for large-scale projects with very high computational needs.
As in previous editions, Call expand and democratize access to cutting-edge computing resources, supporting everything from emerging teams to large-scale projects. This edition maintains its commitment to diversity of access, strengthening Portugal's integration into the European supercomputing network and promoting the efficient use of available infrastructure.
To support potential candidates, an online information session is scheduled for October 10 at 12:00 p.m., with registration now open. The session will present details of Call answer questions about the application process.
Subsequently, on October 22 and 23, the 5th Advanced Computing Meeting will be held at the University of Aveiro, in the Rectory building. The event, focused on the theme of advanced computing, brings together researchers, experts, companies, and representatives from national and international institutions. At this meeting, it will also be possible to learn more and clarify questions about these FCT advanced Calls . For more information and registration, visit the Meeting page.
All information on deadlines, regulations, and supporting documents related to Advanced Computing Calls is also available on the page dedicated to Call on the FCT website.
