European Marine Board launches artist residency program ‘EMBracing the Ocean’

The European Marine Board (EMB), of which FCT is a member alongside CIMAR-LA (comprising CCMAR and CIIMAR), has launched the 2023-2024 edition of its artist residency program “EMBracing the Ocean,” with applications open until February 20, 2023.

The program is looking for two new artists with the aim of awarding grants of €10,000 to creative individuals and groups to co-create works of art in collaboration with ocean scientists. The program's goal is to use art to raise awareness in societies about the value of the ocean and inspire far-reaching social change for its sustainability.

This initiative is aimed at creative individuals or groups, and both emerging and established artists are eligible to apply. Applications will be evaluated by a committee. Previous experience in co-creation with scientists and/or communities and work on topics related to sustainability will be considered in the evaluation.
