Online exhibition celebrates historical milestones associated with April 25
“Arquivo.pt: Memórias do 25 de Abril na Internet” (Arquivo.pt: Memories of April 25 on the Internet) is the name of the initiative carried out by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), in partnership with the 50th Anniversary of April 25 Commemorative Commission, which is part of the celebrations of 50 years of democracy.
Arquivo.pt, a digital service provided by FCT and developed through FCCN, which preserves archived information from the web since 1996, is launching this online exhibition that describes important moments in the history of democracy through a timeline covering the last 27 years.
The exhibition focuses on disseminating the historical legacy associated with the Carnation Revolution, contributing to its preservation and awareness. It is presented as a journey through time that takes you on a voyage through old Internet pages and recalls moments in national life.
In addition, it provides a list of other pages about April 25. In some cases, these are fragments and incomplete memories, but they nevertheless constitute a window into the past. The criteria for selecting the pages to be included in the exhibition were based on the choice of content related to the April 25 celebrations, pages found on Arquivo.pt on dates close to each year, the search for diversity to include different areas of the country, and pages on popular demonstrations and official ceremonies.
Through this exhibition andother planned activities, FCT joins in the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of April 25, contributing to the commemoration of a moment of great importance in the history of our country.
