  • Both the application template to be submitted to the ERC, as well as useful information regarding the Calls Starting Grant, Consolidator Grant and Advanced Grant, will be made available as a permanent update on the ERC-PT Pre-Assesmment page, in the section "ERC | Information and Useful Links".

  • In case the ERC has not yet made available documentation guiding the completion of the application, proposals submitted to the ERC-PT Pre-assessment should use the documentation for one of the Calls of the 2023 Work Program. If the ERC makes this documentation available in the meantime, researchers may choose one of the two models.

In the case of the narrative CV, where changes such as those indicated in the news item available here will be introduced - which are in line with guidelines that FCT has already introduced in programs such as RESTART - it is suggested, in order to better benefit from the pre-evaluation and comments from the evaluators, to adapt to this new format. Please note that if they decide not to do so, the proposals will continue to be considered under the ERC-PT Pre-Assessment.

  • The ERC Submission Commitment Statement to be sent to the Programme address should include the commitment to submit the application to Call of the ERC to which the ERC-PT Pre-Assessment edition refers by the researcher. The express mention of the ERC Call to which the application will be submitted is an essential element for the fulfillment of the eligibility conditions of the Program.

  • The Application Support Statement should simply formalize the host institution's acknowledgement of the future submission of the application to the ERC.

  • No. The mandatory items to be sent are: (i) pre-assessment template step 1part B1; (ii) pre-assessment template step 2step 2, parts B1 and B2.

  • ERC-PT Pre-assessment submissions may be made when the applicants consider it appropriate. Notwithstanding that such early submission may also mean early submission of the evaluators' reports, the commitment of the ERC-PT Pre-assessment is to submit these reports up to about one month before the submission deadline set by the ERC. Please note that only one proposal will be considered under each edition of the ERC-PT Pre-assessment, so early submission of a proposal will prevent an update or resubmission.

  • Yes. At the end of each year of the Program - that is, of the three editions concerning Calls StG, CoG and AdG - FCT will publish the constitution of the Annual College of Evaluators of the ERC-PT Pre-assessment for all scientific areas.

  • No; in that case, the researcher will be released from such commitment. As the objective of the Program is to contribute to the success of applications submitted by researchers in SNCT institutions, this requirement will be void.

  • This new FCT Program is independent of the Calls of the European Research Council - to which each of its editions relates - and aims to contribute to the process of preparing applications from the national scientific community to Calls of the European research funding agency.
