ERC-PT Pre-Assessment
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Both the application template to be submitted to the ERC and useful information regarding the Starting Grant, Consolidator Grant and Advanced Grant Calls will be available as a permanent update on the ERC-PT Pre-Assessment page, in the "ERC | Information and Useful Links" section.
-
In the event that the ERC has not yet made available documentation guiding the completion of the application, proposals sent to the ERC-PT Pre-assessment should use the documentation for one of the Calls in the 2023 Work Program. If the ERC makes this documentation available in the meantime, researchers will be able to choose one of the two models.
In the case of the narrative CV, in which changes will be introduced such as those indicated in the news item available here - which are in line with guidelines that FCT has already introduced in programs such as RESTART - it is suggested that, in order to better benefit from the pre-assessment and comments of the evaluators, they adapt to this new format. It should be noted that, should they decide not to do so, the application proposals will continue to be considered within the scope of the ERC-PT Pre-Assessment.
-
The Declaration of Commitment to Submit an Application sent to the Program's address must include the researcher's commitment to submit an application to the ERC Call which the ERC-PT Pre-Assessment relates. The express mention of the ERC Call to which the application will be submitted is an essential element for compliance with the Program's eligibility conditions.
-
The Declaration of Support for the application should simply formalize the legally constituted host institution's acknowledgement of the future submission of the application to the ERC.
-
No. The mandatory elements are: (i) pre-assessment template step 1part B1; (ii) pre-assessment template step 2parts B1 and B2.
-
Application proposals for the ERC-PT Pre-assessment can be sent when the candidates deem it appropriate. Without prejudice to the fact that such early submission may also mean early submission of the evaluators' reports, the ERC-PT Pre-assessment's commitment is to send these reports no later than one month before the submission deadline set by the ERC. It should be noted that only one proposal will be considered in each edition of the ERC-PT Pre-assessment, so sending a proposal early will prevent it from being updated or resubmitted.
-
Yes. At the end of each year of the Program - i.e. the three editions concerning the StG, CoG and AdG Calls - the FCT will publish the constitution of the Annual College of ERC-PT Pre-assessment Evaluators for all scientific areas.
-
No; in this case, the researcher will be released from this commitment. Since the aim of the Program is to contribute to the success of applications submitted by researchers at SNCT institutions, this requirement will be null and void.
-
This new FCT Program is independent of the European Research Council Calls - to which each of its editions relates - and aims to contribute to the process of preparing applications from the national scientific community to the European research funding agency's Calls .
