FCT opens Call for IC&DT Projects Azores: Ecological Transition - Space - Ocean

The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) has opened applications for the Call Scientific Research and Technological Development Projects (IC&DT) on the theme Azores: Ecological Transition - Space - Ocean. The period for submitting applications runs from March 14 until 5 p.m. (Lisbon time) on May 15, 2025.
This Call is being held under a program contract signed between the FCT, the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES), the Regional Government of the Azores (GRA), the University of the Azores (UAc), the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD), the Portuguese Space Agency (Portugal Space) and the Association for the Development of the International Atlantic Research Centre (AIR Centre). Its aim is to support research projects that contribute to scientific and technological development, strengthen UAc's scientific and institutional capacity and make better use of its Atlantic positioning and the natural characteristics that the Azores offer.
The Call aims to fund projects that boost research, innovation and knowledge transfer in the context of the Atlantic, in the field of science, engineering and technology applied to the study of Space, the Geosphere, the Hydrosphere, the Biosphere and the Atmosphere. It also aims to promote inter-institutional collaboration and the development of scientific skills in strategic areas for the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
The institution proposing the candidate projects must be one of the entities listed: the University of the Azores or the Gaspar Frutuoso Foundation. Projects may have a maximum duration of 36 months, extendable by a maximum of 12 months in justified cases. The Call 's total financial allocation is 2.25 million euros, guaranteed by national funds through the FCT budget, with a maximum funding per project of 250 thousand euros.
