FCT opens Call for IC&DT Projects: Madeira - Tourism and the Sea

The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) has opened applications for the Call Scientific Research and Technological Development Projects (IC&DT): Madeira - Tourism and the Sea. The period for submitting applications runs from March 14 until 5 p.m. (Lisbon time) on May 15, 2025.
This Call is being held under a program contract signed between the FCT, the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES), the Regional Government of Madeira (GRM), the University of Madeira (UMa), the Regional Agency for the Development of Research, Technology and Innovation (ARDITI) and the Association for the Development of the International Research Centre for the Atlantic (AIR Centre), with the aim of promoting scientific research and technological development in Madeira, aiming at its institutional development and overcoming constraints arising from regional asymmetries.
The purpose of this Call is to support IC&DT projects that contribute to UMa's differentiating position in the national higher education panorama, by promoting the development of scientific and technological skills in the strategic areas of Tourism and the Sea. At the same time, the aim is to foster knowledge transfer and innovation in strategic sectors for regional development, as well as strengthening institutional partnerships and scientific cooperation.
The proposing institution for the projects must be the University of Madeira and the projects must be led by Principal Investigators with ties to UMa and its respective Research Units. Projects may have a maximum duration of 36 months, which may be extended by a maximum of 12 months in justified cases. The Call 's total financial allocation is 2 million euros and the maximum funding per project is 250 thousand euros.
