390 applications were submitted, of which 319 (around 82%) met the admissibility requirements. In view of the very high number of applications, the decision was taken to increase the number of Studentships to be awarded under this Call, from 30 to 39 Studentships doctoral research grants. This additional number was allocated to Angola, Cape Verde and Mozambique, which accounted for around 88% of the total number of applications. The selection of candidates took into account the merit of the candidate, the merit of the work plan and the merit of the host conditions. The evaluation process for this edition of Call involved the participation of 37 evaluators, divided into three evaluation panels that analyzed, classified and ranked the applications in each panel.
The three panels had the following distribution of applications analyzed: Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts -161; Natural Sciences and Engineering - 110; Health and Life Sciences - 48.
