FCT breaks financial execution record in 2024
In 2024, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) set a new record for financial execution, with a total of €833.3M transferred to the National Science and Technology System (SNCT). This performance represents an increase of 42.2% compared to 2023, when execution totaled 586.4M€, and also surpasses the previous record of 2022, of 618M€.
The figure reached in 2024 is thus, by a wide margin, the highest ever in FCT transfers to the national scientific system in a single year.
This figure includes €652.3M in Tax Revenue, €172.6M in European Funds and €8.2M in Own Revenue. As a reference, in 2023, FCT spent €517.7M in Tax Revenue, €60.6M in European Funds and €8.1M in Own Revenue.
This execution was possible due to the budget reinforcement in Tax Revenues granted by the Government, which made 187M€ available between September and December 2024.
This result proves the FCT's ability to manage and execute the funds allocated.
