In 2024, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) set a new record for financial execution, with a total of €833.3 million transferred to the National Science and Technology System (SNCT). This performance represents an increase of 42.2% compared to 2023, when execution totaled €586.4 million, and also surpasses the previous record of €618 million set in 2022.

The amount reached in 2024 is thus, by a wide margin, the highest ever in transfers from the FCT to the national scientific system in a single year.

This amount includes €652.3 million in tax revenue, €172.6 million in European funds, and €8.2 million in own revenue. For reference, in 2023, the FCT executed €517.7 million in tax revenues, €60.6 million in European funds, and €8.1 million in own revenues.

This execution was made possible by the budgetary reinforcement in Tax Revenue granted by the Government, which made €187 million available between September and December 2024.

This result proves FCT's ability to manage and execute the funds allocated.
