FCT has released the provisional results of Call research projects on "April 25 and Portuguese democracy"
Today, April 16, 2024, the provisional results of Call research projects "April 25 and Portuguese democracy" were announced, promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) in collaboration with the 50th Anniversary of April 25 Commemorative Commission.
A total of 78 applications were received and analyzed, with 20 exploratory R&D projects directly related to the achievement and construction of democracy in the context of the Revolution of April 25, 1974, being recommended for funding. The total investment amounts to €496,578.38, fully financed by national funds through the FCT budget. Each project received an average of €25,000 in funding for a maximum duration of 18 months.
The projects recommended for funding fall within various lines of research, such as:
- civic and political participation;
- economic, political, and social dynamics;
- decolonization and international dynamics;
- oral history and memoirs;
- archival processing, digitization, and study of documentary collections related to April 25;
- creation and provision of educational resources promoting knowledge and memory of April 25, particularly in citizenship education.

Following the announcement of the provisional results, competitors may now submit their statements at a preliminary hearing of interested parties, until May 2, 2024. The final results of Call expected to Call announced during the month of May.
Through this Call other planned actions, FCT joins in the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of April 25, contributing to marking a moment of great importance in the history of our country.
