The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the National Center for Advanced Computing (CNCA) have launched a call for expressions of interest aimed at supporting the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in real-world contexts. This initiative is part of the BSC AI Factory and aims to identify entities capable of mobilizing companies, startups, and public administration bodies to use this technology.

With a submission deadline of May 31, entities based in Portugal that carry out relevant activities at the intersection of artificial intelligence and innovation ecosystems—including digital innovation hubs, test beds, collaborative laboratories, technology and innovation centers, technology interface centers, technology parks, and business and industry associations, among others—are invited to submit expressions of interest.

The selected entities will be able to join the BSC AI Factory’s network of competence nodes, playing an active role in mobilizing beneficiaries, developing proofs of concept and pilot projects, as well as facilitating access to the resources and services provided by the Factory. These entities will also contribute to the promotion of training activities, events, and dissemination initiatives, in coordination with the AI Factory’s sectoral hubs, benefiting from close collaboration with the BSC AI Factory, which includes:

  • Easier access to computing resources and advanced AI services;
  • Participation in joint training initiatives and specialized events;
  • Priority access to pilot projects and new services developed within the framework of the Factory.

As part of the European network of 19 AI Factories supported by the European Commission under the EuroHPC partnership, the BSC AI Factory’s mission is to accelerate the development and implementation of artificial intelligence solutions that have an economic and social impact and contribute to the national innovation ecosystem, promoting their transfer to the business community—including startups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and public entities.

Applications must be submitted using the designated form. Further information about this call for expressions of interest is available on the FCT website.
