FCT and CoLab ForestWISE promote the webinar “Path to impact: Benefits of scientific research for rural fire management”
The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and CoLAB ForestWISE are organizing a webinar on September 18 (3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.) entitled "Path to impact: Benefits of scientific research for rural fire management."
This webinar will present the report "R&D Mobilization Program for the Prevention and Control of Forest Fires – path to impact," which presents an analysis of the results produced and an impact assessment of the research projects developed under the R&D Program for the prevention and fighting of forest fires, promoted by FCT between 2017 and 2019.
The event program will also include a round table discussion, moderated by José Manuel Mendonça, Director of INESC TEC and Professor Emeritus at the University of Porto, which will bring together representatives from academia, public and private entities, and other members of civil society. The topic under discussion will be the transfer and appropriation of research results as a driver for societal impact.
This webinar is another opportunity for strategic reflection on maximizing the impact of applied research. Participation is free of charge, subject to prior registration.
The R&D Program for the prevention and fighting of forest fires arose in the wake of the major fires of 2017 and had the mission of strengthening the development of R&D activities aimed at ensuring the appropriation and incorporation of scientific knowledge in support of decision-making in operational systems. Through this Call, FCT funded 56 scientific research and technological development projects in the field of forest fire prevention and fighting, with an investment of around €15 million.
