FCT Mobility: provisional results of the fourth evaluation stage released

The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) has published the list of provisional results from the fourth evaluation stage of the FCT Mobility program. Fifty-eight applications were put forward for funding (out of a total of 58 eligible proposals), corresponding to €373,110.50 in support for the international mobility of researchers.

This fourth evaluation period covered applications submitted between May 11 and July 10, 2025. Since its inception, FCT Mobility has received 318 applications, with an approval rate of 79.24%. The total funding allocated was €1,556,602.00.

FCT Mobility funds medium and long-term stays for national doctoral researchers in foreign institutions and for foreign doctoral researchers in national institutions, with a view to carrying out research activities and/or fieldwork. It has been allocated five million euros in funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan - PRR(Measure RE-C06-i06 - Ciência Mais Capacitação).

There are 252 researchers in international mobility under this program. In the incoming mode, Portugal hosts 88 researchers affiliated with foreign institutions, from both European countries (Italy, Spain, the UK, France, Poland and Ireland) and countries outside Europe (Benin, Uzbekistan, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Australia, China and the USA).

In the outgoing mode, there are 164 Portuguese researchers in transit, mostly to countries in the European Union (Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom), and less than a third to countries outside Europe (Angola, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Laos, Mexico, Mozambique, Singapore, Vietnam, USA and South Africa).

This program is permanently open and applications can be submitted until December 31, 2025, for mobilities starting until March 31, 2026.
