FCT Mobility: publication of provisional results of the sixth evaluation round

The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) has published the list of provisional results of the sixth evaluation phase of the FCT Mobility program. Forty-two applications out of a total of 45 eligible proposals were selected for funding, corresponding to €253,537.00 in support for the international mobility of researchers.

This sixth evaluation round considered applications submitted between September 11 and November 10, 2025. Since its inception, FCT Mobility has received 433 applications, with 341 grants awarded. The approval rate is 78.75%. The total funding allocated was €1,381,521.00.

In the incoming modality, Portugal welcomes 127 researchers affiliated with foreign institutions, coming from both European countries (Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Poland, and Ireland) and countries outside Europe (Australia, the US, Brazil, China, Colombia, Mexico, Benin, and Uzbekistan).

In the outgoing modality, there are 214 Portuguese researchers in transit, mainly to European countries (Ireland, Italy, Iceland, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Poland, Germany, France, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, and Romania), and less than a third to countries outside Europe (USA, China, Brazil, Chile, Canada, Argentina, South Africa, Mexico, Vietnam, Laos, Singapore, Japan, Mozambique, and Angola).

FCT Mobility funds medium- and long-term stays for Portuguese PhD researchers at foreign institutions and foreign PhD researchers at Portuguese institutions, with a view to carrying out research and/or fieldwork. It has a budget of €5 million from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) (Measure RE-C06-i06 – Science Plus Training).

This program closed applications on December 31, 2025, but there will still be a seventh evaluation period, which will be completed shortly, for mobility programs starting before March 31, 2026.
