The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), through its Science and Technology Archive (ACT), will be organizing the "Archives of Knowledge: Science, History and Memory". The aim of this cycle is to disseminate the documentary collection of the FCT's Science and Technology Archive, through the promotion of five short sessions, held in an informal and sharing environment.

The first session will take place on February 19, starting at 2:30 p.m., at the FCT premises (Av. Dom Carlos I, 126, Lisbon). The President of the FCT, Madalena Alves, will open the first session of this cycle, which will feature guest speaker Hugo Soares (CIUHCT and CIÊNCIAS-ULisboa). The topic under discussion will be "The National Institute for Scientific Research (1976-1992)", in a session moderated by researcher Quintino Lopes (Institute of Contemporary History, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Universidade de Évora/IN2PAST - Universidade de Évora). See the detailed program of the event on the ACT website and register for free here, until February 14.

The ACT is unique in the history of scientific activity in Portugal, with the task of preserving and managing the documentary memory of national scientific production, translated into thousands of support processes for Studentships, institutions and research projects. Open to the public since December 16, 2011, it has a significant collection of documents that includes, in addition to the FCT's own archive from 1997 onwards, the collection of the National Board for Scientific and Technological Research (JNICT), from 1967 to 1997, and other public and private bodies, essentially in the area of science policies and funding in Portugal.

The remaining four sessions of this cycle will be held on April 16, June 18, September 17 and November 19, with all the information about the programs being made available on this page in due course.
