On October 20, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) organized the workshop "Evaluation of R&D Institutions: European Debates and Experience Sharing," which took place at the FCT facilities in Lisbon.

The purpose of this event was to encourage the sharing of knowledge and experiences between funding agencies and scientific communities in Angola and Europe, with a focus on dialogue and international cooperation. It brought together around 65 participants from Portugal, Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, and São Tomé and Príncipe.

In addition to the workshop, technical visits were also made to five Research and Development (R&D) institutions located in the Greater Lisbon and Aveiro regions, representing different scientific areas and institutional models, namely Green-it, LASIGE – Center for Research in Computer Science and Engineering, the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge (INSA), the Center for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM), and the Research Institute for Design, Media, and Culture (ID+).

This initiative was part of the "Attractive and Sustainable Research and Development Institutions" action, funded by theEuropean Union-Angola Dialogues Program through the FUNDECIT (Angola) and FCT (Portugal) funding agencies. Two more hybrid workshopsare planned, with the aim of sharing, analyzing, and contextualizing policies, challenges, knowledge, practices, and evaluation processes of R&D institutions in Angola and Portugal.
